July 2013

Planning - The Parish Council are statutory consultees on planning applications within the parish and this means that they are expected to consider each application, take on board any residents comments and formulate a response to Mid Suffolk District Council based on relevant material planning considerations. The planning officer then hopefully takes these comments into consideration when determining the Mid Suffolk District Council’s final decisions.

This month consideration was given to Application no. 1544/13 Change of Use of land to allow the siting of 5no. camping pods and 1no. toilet pod for holiday use. Creation of car parking area and access roads and footpath. Installation of sewage treatment plant at Oaklands, Rattlesden Road. The parish council having received no representation from residents agreed to return a NO OBJECTION response.

Consideration was given to application no. 1922/13 Demolition of existing side flat roof extension and rear conservatory. Erection of a two storey side extension and conservatory, 5 Edmunds Road again with no comments or concerns expressed to them by residents councillors agreed to return a NO OBJECTION comment.

Mid Suffolk District Council have made the following decisions on Application no. 0377/13 Use of land to facilitate functions associated with existing restaurant use and provision of ancillary outside dining area, Buxhall Vale, Purple Hill – which has been GRANTED and 0378/13 Construction of tennis court at Buxhall Vale, Purple Hill – also GRANTED

You can look at all pending planning applications online at www.planningpages.midsuffolk.gov.uk/online-applications - enter Buxhall into the search and follow the prompts.

Housing Needs Survey – At the recent Annual Parish meeting concerns regarding the lack of affordable housing in the village were raised. It is the aim of councillors to attempt to establish if there is a clear desire for local people to stay in Buxhall. Private rentals are sometime out of reach for people wanting to stay close to their families in a rural parish and it may be that we need to be providing homes that ordinary families can afford.

Mid Suffolk District Council and the Rural Housing Enabling service at Community Action

Suffolk (previously Suffolk ACRE) are able to help parish councils commission a Local Housing Needs Survey. There are some costs involved with printing and distribution but by using Community Action Suffolk we can ensure complete confidentiality of replies and a professional analysis of the results so that we can be sure whether or not we need to take forward an affordable housing scheme to suit the needs of our community.

Sunila Osbourne, a rural housing enabler from CAS, is invited to come along to the next parish council meeting on 16th September to talk through the first step of the process, the Housing Need Survey to see if we have a local need for affordable housing. Please come along if you have an interest.

No August meeting therefore:

The next Parish Council meeting will take place at 7.30 on Monday 16th September 2013.

All residents are welcome to join us.
